Embedded Device Operating Systems and Information Sources

OpenEmbedded General purpose framework for creating OSs. Designed to target a wide verity of embedded devices. Wikipedia.
  • Not so good for the average user, but good to know about and be aware of since a lot of other embedded stuff that are open source are based on this project.
OpenMoko OS for Smartphones
OpenWRT OS for routers. Started for just the Linksys WRT54G, but has expanded to other platforms.
Google Android The Android OS is for smartphones and is Open Source (Apache v2 License)
Handhelds.org Their goal is "to encourage and facilitate the creation of open source software for use on handheld and wearable computers."
