Targeted Website Advertising and Tracking Cookies

Most modern web browsers allow you to examine, remove or block cookies from each and any website you visit. If you wish to be sure of the existence of a specific tracking cookie, you may use the built in tools to do this.

So far, the few websites that provide information about targeted advertising, the information to opt-out is in the privacy statement. If you suspect a website is targeting advertising (and you care), you may wish to start there.

Also note: Some web browsers (such as FireFox using Addblock Plus) have very good add blocking and if you just use theses, you may never have to look at another advertisement while browsing a website again.

Fax Spam

In some (or most) countries, sending superfluous faxes is illegal, since it wasts resources and costs that individual or business money. You may wish to look into the details of any related laws if you are receiving unsolicited faxes.
